It was my great pleasure to help out with the LEGO Creator Day at Bentall’s Toy department in Kingston for this week’s Thumbs Up, It’s Thursday! event. Children who turned up at Bentalls all received a bag of assorted LEGO and could build whatever they wanted.
I was on hand to give building tips and inspire as kids from all around Kingston came and built some amazing creations from LEGO, with the very best going on to win prizes like LEGO sets from Bentalls! Every person who turned up got to keep all the LEGO they were building with and it was such a pleasure to see so many happy faces.
As always happens at free build events, the children blew me away with their creative skills, making ice palaces, submarine vehicles, pet houses and so much more.
The children also got a chance to do a little programming with the Beyond Blocks LEGO WeDo 2.0 kit that I brought with me. We learned about motors, gears and sensors and coded with variables and loops using a model biplane.

If you are interested in learning more about the LEGO building and programming sessions that I run, please check out the booking page as booking is now open for the September term!
